The Sunday River Ski & Snowboard Club, founded in 1992, is a (501C-3) non-profit snowsports educational foundation located in Bethel, Maine. The primary role of SRSSC is to provide support, both financial and human resources, to improve the overall experience of the athletes engaged in competitive training programs at Sunday River Ski Resort through the Gould Academy Competition Program (GACP). GACP offers training programs for alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. Fulltime and weekend training programs offer outstanding coaching for athletes who are dedicated to pursuing athletic achievement.

Social Events
The club schedules get-togethers several times a month during the winter. Some examples are apres ski socials at area restaurants, tubing night and pot-luck dinners. The club is committed to offering activities for its adult, family and youth members. Member Discounts Membership in the SRSSC provides members with access to discounts at area merchants and restaurants. Grants The club awards up to $5000 in grants each year to youth members who belong to a seasonal program at Sunday River, including Alpine Racing (Gould Academy Competition Program or Telstar), Freestyle and Snowboarding. Applicants can be involved in part-time or full-time programs. Grants are awarded to local youth as assistance for payment of program fees and to support athletes who have earned the opportunity to compete in regional and/or national skiing and snowboarding competitions based on their competitive performance during the season. Grant money has also been given to the local schools to expand and enhance the RugRats program. RugRats is a learn-to-ski program run cooperatively through Perfect Turn and Gould Academy students to offer elementary school children the chance to learn how to ski and ride. Many of these local children might not otherwise have the chance to ski or ride if it were not for RugRats. Funding for all of these programs comes from dues and fundraising activities. Gould Academy Competition Program Support The SRSSC provides funding to The Gould Academy Competition Program (GACP) for the purchase of special equipment for seasonal programs in all disciplines. In addition, the SRSSC provides GACP with funding to support its coaches in special training and certification opportunities. |
